About us
History
Ernest Hadley founded the business in 1933 delivering sand and gravel using a horse and cart, supplies were hand dug from land at Shinfield.
Alan Hadley, Earnest’s nephew, took over the business in 1946 and started to grow his fleet by buying ex military vehicles, and so the recycling had begun!!
Diversification into earthworks and demolition began soon after Alan took the reins and during the railway workers strike some two years later Hadleys moved huge quantities of vital coal all over the country for private and business use.
Hadleys provided foundation materials for the M3 and the Broad Street Mall in Reading along with many other developments since then.
We set up Quickbins which was the first skip hire business established in Reading, we are proudly still one of the bigger skip hire businesses in the area.
During the last 75 years we have played and important part in the sustainable development of Reading and the surrounding area. We look forward to helping make the Thames Valley that much “greener” for us all to enjoy.
